Stadium events and City campus parking

From 24 April 2026, some City campus carparks will be used for paid event parking during events at One New Zealand Stadium. Most events take place in the evenings and weekends, so we expect minimal impact on student and staff parking.

What to know on stadium event days

Daytime parking (Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm)

Ara’s reserved and pay‑per‑day carparks remain available. If you’ve paid to park during these hours and need to stay past 5pm for learning or Ara work, you can leave your car in the same space.

Arriving after 5pm

If you arrive after 5pm on an event day, use the Madras Street carpark next to the Rakaia Centre. A security guard will be onsite. Please present your Ara ID on entry.

This carpark is strictly for teaching and learning - it can’t be used for stadium events or personal parking.

Building access after 5pm

City campus buildings will be locked from 5pm on stadium event days. Staff and students will need their Ara ID to access buildings after this time.

Anzac Day weekend

Ara ID security cards will be required to enter any City campus building from 5pm Friday 24 April to Tuesday morning 28 April.

Road closures will be in place around the stadium. See the road closures map for more info.

Safety and security

All Ara carparks are monitored by cameras at all times. Extra security will be onsite during stadium events. Signage will direct members of the public to pay for parking via QR code or payment machines.
