The Electricity Engineers’ Association established the scholarship in 2026. It supports Engineering students at the Ara Institute of Canterbury (Ara) considering technical or field careers in New Zealand’s electricity supply industry and who are developing relevant capabilities through their course of study.
Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, you must:
- Be a New Zealand citizen, or permanent resident at the time of application
- Be a full-time student at Ara enrolled in the final year of a programme for New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (Level 6) (Electrical/ Electronic strand) or Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Electrical strand)

- New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (Level 6) (Electrical / Electronic strand)
- Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Electrical strand)

- Provide two referee reports which comment on your ability to succeed in this programme and attest to your character. (Please use the template provided below.) One referee should be from an Ara tutor
- Provide a copy of your academic transcript to date
