To enable Registered Nurses to further develop their knowledge and skills in the assessment, management and support of children and young people and their families/ whānau, with enuresis, constipation and/or encopresis.

Description

Apply knowledge of the aetiology, pathophysiology and clinical presentation of a child or young person with enuresis, constipation and/or encopresis.

Critically analyse treatment options available, including modifiable factors, pharmacological options, and/or surgical interventions.

Apply knowledge, to support parents in managing behaviour, including understanding of Māori and Pasifika specific health needs, and children with additional needs, to nursing practice.

Critically reflect on the assessment and management of a child or young person with enuresis, constipation and/or encopresis including documentation and referral.
