The Rika Fund is generously provided by the Hyuga family, who tragically lost their daughter in the 2011 Christchurch earthquake. Rika had a commitment for achieving her dreams.
This scholarship is dedicated to helping others who have a clear vision for achieving their career aspirations.
The fund awards a cash grant of $2500 to support a full time domestic or international Ara learner to achieve their goals and dreams.
Application Criteria
To apply for this scholarship, you need to:
- Be studying full time
- Have completed and passed one academic year of a 2 or more-year programme at Ara
Your personal statement should provide detail about:
- Your vision for achieving your goals and dreams, what has driven you to want to come to Ara to study and how do you plan to reach your vision for the future
- What lengths you go to, to consistently commit yourself to studying
The scholarship is open to both domestic and international students.
How to Apply

- Provide a personal statement to reflect the special circumstances that make you a candidate for this scholarship.
- Provide two referee reports, which comment on your ability to succeed in this programme and attest to your character. One referee report must be from an Ara tutor. (Please use the templates provided below.)
- Provide your academic transcript to date.
