This scholarship provides cash grants for four learners studying towards a programme in the eligible sectors, with the aim of recognising and encouraging learners through their study. It was established to help address challenges faced by learners in achieving their career pathway goals. Ara reserves the right to re-advertise the scholarship if we do not receive suitable applicants

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for one of these scholarships, you must:

  • Be a domestic or international learner
  • Be enrolled in full time study (part time learners will be considered however they will receive a proportion of the scholarship amount, equal to the level of their part time enrolment) in one of the programmes listed below.
  • Be able to demonstrate how challenges (of any sort, for example, financial hardship, ethnicity, learning disabilities, equity etc) have had or do have an impact on you achieving your career pathway goals

Eligible Programmes

  • NZ Certificate Mechanical Engineering (Trade) (level 4)
  • NZ Diploma Engineering (level 6) - Electrical, Electronic, and/or Mechanical
  • Bachelor of Engineering Technology – Electrical and/or Mechanical
  • Graduate Diploma in Operations and Production Management

How to Apply

  • Submit an online application form
  • Provide a personal statement (up to 500 words) outlining the special circumstances that make you a candidate for this scholarship
  • Provide two referee reports (please use the template provided below)
