Security (CCNA)

International Close Date: 6 weeks before start date

Develop an in-depth understanding of network security principles.

This course explores security threats, attack vectors, firewall technologies, intrusion protection systems, cryptographic systems, virtual private networks, cloud security and more. You’ll learn about security policies and how to apply mitigation techniques such as authentication, authorisation and accounting.

NCEA Level 2

If you have undertaken examinations other than NCEA (e.g. International Baccalaureate, Cambridge Examination), Ara will assess your qualification for academic entry equivalency.

In accordance with Cisco contractual agreements, applicants for this course must be employed at an institute that is a registered Cisco Academy.

Still want to study but don't meet the Academic Requirements?

If you show that you have equivalent skills for tertiary study gained through study, work and/or life experience, you may be able to gain alternative entry.

What if English is not my first Language?

If English is not the applicant's first language, applicants will need to provide a result from a test or qualification on the acceptable alternatives English Proficiency Outcomes Chart.

  • Applicants who do not have evidence of English language skills and are a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, may contact Ara for an assessment.
  • Note: IELTS scores used must be taken from a single IELTS Test Report Form and are valid for two years from the date of the test.
  • Students who have achieved NCEA Level 3 University Entrance requirements are not required to provide evidence of English language skills.
