Description
The learning outcomes for this course are:
Analyse relevant mental health and addiction legislation and ethical issues and integrate the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi into the provision of equitable and culturally appropriate nursing care for Tangata Whai Ora and their whānau
Evaluate aetiology, pathophysiology, major mental health conditions and addictions across the lifespan, considering their causes, presentation, and impact on individuals, whānau, and communities, with specific consideration of Māori worldviews and experiences
Apply culturally safe and recovery-focused approaches in mental health and addiction care, collaborate effectively with others, and support mental health literacy to reduce stigma
Identify pharmacological principles relevant to safe, accurate, and independent medication management in a mental health nursing context
Describe key considerations for safe medication management, including professional accountability
Attain competency in selected Nursing Council standards of competence relevant to enrolled nurse practice during clinical placement
