Ako: Relational Roles of a Kaiako
This course aims to enable ākonga to explore the concept of ako and the relational roles of kaiako and tamariki, including understandings of wellbeing and belonging. Ākonga will examine how philosophy informs intentional teaching practice and outcomes for tamariki, while developing a deeper understanding of intentional practice and quality communication.

The learning outcomes for this course are:
Discuss factors that influence intra- and interpersonal communication in early childhood education settings
Reflect on the concept of teacher/kaiako identity in early childhood education, recognising the relational roles of kaiako including cultural practice
Articulate an emerging personal teaching philosophy that reflects ethical, professional, and bicultural responsibilities in Aotearoa New Zealand
