This course aims to enable ākonga to develop their command of language in common marae contexts and is designed to enable ākonga to conduct themselves in the planning and participate in pōwhiri from beginning to end in te reo.

Tohua i ngā āhuatanga o te pōwhiri/whakatau. Explain key components of the welcome process (specified region)
Whakamārama i te hiringa o te kīnaki, me te waiata kia wana. Explain the role of song in support of welcome and perform appropriately
Whakamahi tika i ngā whakatakotoranga kōrero e hāngai ana ki ngā momo wāhi o te marae e pai ai te whakawhiti whakaaro. Correctly use language reflective of different parts of the marae at a level where basic conversation can be maintained
