Kia āhei te tauira ki te hanga kōrero hei whakapuare i ōna moemoeā, wawata, hiahia mā te whakamana i ōna tātai ki te whenua, ngā whakapapa me ngā kōrero a ngā tūpuna. This course aims to enable ākonga to use Māori language to illustrate ones’ connections to land, the environment, prominent places, people, histories and stories by use of idioms and proverbs.

Description

The learning outcomes for this course are:

1. Whakamahi pepeha whakataukī/whakatauākī, ā tuhi, ā kōrero, hei whakapuaki i te whakaaro, hei tohu i te tuakiri me ngā hononga o te tangata i ngā horopaki e tika ana. Use proverbs and pepeha appropriately in written and oral form to express thoughts, identity and connection (geographically and through genealogy) in speaking and writing

Whakamahi kīwaha i ngā horopaki e tika ana. Use appropriate idiom to express thought and emotion in speaking and writing

Whakamārama i ngā whakataukī/whakatauākī, kīwaha, kīanga kua tohua. Explain specified examples of idiom, proverbs and colloquial sayings

Whakamahi tika i Te Reo Māori me ngā momo kīanga kia hua mai tētahi tuhinga auaha mō tētahi kaupapa motuhake. Apply knowledge of colloquial phrases and Te Reo Māori to create an accurate and original piece of writing
