18 February, 2020

It’s time to welcome new and returning students back to Ara Institute of Canterbury campuses for 2020, with Freshies, a fun, food-centric orientation festival.

Starting off the Freshies schedule on Tuesday 18 February is Not’cho Normal Nachos – a fully kitted out nacho bar at Manawa campus, for Ara nursing, midwifery and medical imaging students.

On Wednesday 19 February, trades students at Woolston campus will be treated to Hamburgers and Huskies. The huskies are back by popular demand after they drew long lines of excited students last year. To spread out the action this event will also take place at City campus on Wednesday 26 February.

The Longest Lunch on Monday 24 February is designed to encourage mixing and mingling among new students. It features a mega-long table where students can enjoy a free lunch.

Tuesday 25 February marks the biggest event of the Freshies calendar: the Student Services Carnival at the City campus. At this orientation market, students can find out about all the support and services available to them.

On Thursday 27 February, City campus students will be encouraged to bring out their artistic talents at a Creativity and Coffee event. Both the art gear and the coffee is free.

Freshies runs at Ara until 9 March, with several more events for students to enjoy.
