Learn essential basic plumbing, gasfitting and drainlaying skills and prepare for further study or an apprenticeship.
The Plumbing Pre Trade module has been designed to give you all the fundamental skills needed to begin a career in plumbing, gasfitting or drainlaying. You will learn the process of assembling, installing and repairing pipes; how to use plumbing, gasfitting and drainlaying drawings and fabricate basic components.
With relevant work experience you will also apply health and safety requirements to plumbing, gasfitting and drainlaying contexts and experience using appropriate safety equipment.
In order to undertake this programme you must be physically able to work safely in an industry-related work environment.
To complete this Youth course you are required to do the NZQF unit standards outlined in the table below. The credits above are Ara credits which you will receive upon completion of this course. Please note the number of credits may be different.

This programme is a study pathway towards the National Certificate in Plumbing Level 4 and National Certificate in Gasfitting Level 4.
Completion of this module will put you in a strong position when applying for an apprenticeship in a plumbing, gasfitting or drainlaying company and for working towards a national certificate qualification and registration.
