Content
Gain skills to become a competent business administrator.
On this programme you'll learn how to provide administrative and general office services to support everyday operational activities.
Specifically you'll also learn how to perform financial calculations, process data, produce information for business purposes, communicate effectively with stakeholders and work co-operatively within a team to achieve objectives. Other areas covered include selecting and applying customer service techniques, applying effective problem solving, decision making, ethical behaviour and self-management.

Career opportunities
With this qualification you'll possess the skills and knowledge to work in a wide range of supervised general office administration roles in a variety of sectors. Roles may include: receptionist, data entry operator, front line customer service roles, call or contact centre operator, secretary, office support worker.
Study pathways
You can pathway from this qualification to the New Zealand Certificate in Business (Administration and Technology) Level 4, or add to your business skills and expertise with a New Zealand Certificate in Business specialising in other areas, such as Accounting Support Services, First Line Management, Small Business, Team Leadership or Project Management.
Alternatively, you could pathway into relevant industry certifications or other level 3 and level 4 qualifications.

What if English is not my first Language?
If English is not your first language, we want to make sure that you will be successful in your chosen programme of study. Please provide a result from a test or qualification on the acceptable alternatives English Proficiency Outcomes Chart .

- If you are a New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident, complete an Admission and Enrolment form and Ara will contact you regarding a free assessment.
- If you are not a New Zealand Citizen or Permanent resident, book an IELTS, Pearson or other test through the Ara Examination Centre or in your home country.
IELTS scores used must be taken from a single IELTS test report form and are valid for two years from the date of the test.
What if I have achieved NCEA Level 3 University Entrance?
