Purpose

The purpose of Māori and Pacific Scholarships is to support Māori and Pacific learners to access and succeed in tertiary education at Ara Institute of Canterbury.  

Eligibility

This scholarship is available to prospective and current Ara learners intending to enrol either full-time or part-time in any Level 3 and above programme of study offered by Ara.

To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  • Be of Māori or Pacific descent
  • Meet the entry requirements for your chosen programme at the time of commencement of study
  • Study a programme directly with Ara (programmes offered through partnerships and subcontracting arrangements are not eligible)

Value

The scholarship value will be $4,000 per equivalent full-time student enrolment. This means a learner studying full-time will receive the full $4,000, while a learner studying part-time will receive a proportion of the $4,000 equal to the level of their part-time enrolment.

  • Provide a personal statement to reflect the special circumstances that make you a candidate for this scholarship.
  • Provide two referee reports, which comment on your ability to succeed in this programme and attest to your character. (Please use the template provided below.)
