Ara takes a journey to 1905 Anatevka, a small Jewish village in Russia, for the classic, heartwarming musical Fiddler on the Roof, opening 18 May and running to 24 May.

The cast of second year NASDA students rehearse for Fiddler on the Roof

Tickets to the production about fathers and daughters, husbands and wives, and life, love and laughter are completely sold out weeks before opening night.

National Academy of Singing and Dramatic Art (NASDA) students at Ara are thrilled with the response and are rehearsing hard on such famous numbers such as “Tradition,” “Sunrise, Sunset,” “If I Were A Rich Man,” “Matchmaker, Matchmaker,” and “To Life (L’Chaim!)”. NASDA’s plays and musicals are high quality productions that prepare students for the world of theatre, film and television.

First directed by Jerome Robbins in New York and produced by Harold Prince, Christchurch’s Fiddler on the Roof is directed by NASDA staff Kirsty Allpress and Angela Johnson, with choreography by Kirsty Allpress and musical direction by Nick Hollamby.
