The foresight and generosity of Gordon Fairweather and his family has made the scholarship available to assist students in their mechanical and engineering studies since 1975. Fairweather, a marine engineer, was one of the enterprising founders in 1923 of Blackwell Motors.

“The calibre of the successful 2018 Ara applicants is high, with each student holding unique experience and personal interests which support their engineering pursuits,” Sue Addison from Trustees Executors said.
