Job Seeker Workshops
Sharpen your tools and get that job! Our Job Seeker Workshops can help you to:
- Hunt for jobs effectively
- Create top-notch CVs, online profiles and application letters
- Interview with confidence
Workshops are held at Ministry of Social Development in Linwood and Rangiora. Each workshop costs $115 (funding available for eligible MSD clients).
After your workshop, you'll join the Ara team to explore study options, take a campus tour and get help with study applications. 12-2pm, no cost.
Career Planning and CV Preparation
This workshop will help you to: identify your areas of interest, work values, key skills and strengths; research career areas and make decisions; prepare a CV suited to you and your career goals.
Using Google Docs
This workshop will help you to: set up a Google account (and email if you don’t have one); learn how to use Google Docs; create your CV in Google Docs.
Job Search Tips and Interview Skills
This workshop will help you to: search for jobs more effectively; build your interview confidence; prepare answers for common interview questions.
Online Job Profiles and Job Applications
This workshop will help you to: create job profiles online in Seek, Trade Me and LinkedIn; apply for advertised jobs.

Individual Career Planning
As a workshop participan, you can access one-on-one career planning with Ara's expert Career Centre Staff. This is tailored to your needs, and can include career planning, Career Voyage (with printed report), creation of a CV and cover letters and interview practice. Cost is $115 per hour.
