ArtBox set to go live

artbox at night
18 Feb 2013

ArtBox has been a hive of activity this week, as the final touches to the building are added and we count down to our inaugural opening.

We have the electrician making his final visit, the last of the lights being wired up and the final coat of paint going on. The building, which is canter-levered, has had fluorescent lights added under the floor, as well as LED strip lighting under the eaves. It looks absolutely amazing lit up at night. A piece of art itself!

Coming up next week, on February 20, we’ll be unveiling the TelstraClear commemorative earthquake sculpture Bands for Hope by one of our local artists. This sculpture will take centrepiece in the space next to the L-Pavilion, which will also see some more of the site landscaped as well.

Our first official opening is the following week, February 27, the invites for which will be going out shortly. We’re planning an evening of music, food and entertainment to launch ArtBox into the public domain. We hope you will come and support us.

We can’t wait to open our doors to Christchurch!
