If you’re employed in a hospitality environment* you can study for free towards a qualification while you work.
We offer two food and hospitality qualifications designed to be completed in the workplace:
- New Zealand Certificate in Cookery (Level 4) (Workplace)
- New Zealand Certificate in Food and Beverage Service (Level 3) with Barista and/or Bar and/or Café Service Strands (Workplace)
These work-based training programmes are tailored to suit your individual needs, based on your workplace and experience. They are flexible and will have little impact on your work hours. Most of your learning will take place in the workplace, however during your training you’ll attend workshops and demonstrations at Ara. You’ll have two mentors; one at your workplace and one at Ara.
*To meet the entry criteria for these programmes, you must: be employed for a minimum of 20 hours a week, be a New Zealand resident and not be enrolled at secondary school or other tertiary-based study.
