Canterbury is one of New Zealand's most dynamic regions. When you come to live and work here, your opportunities to explore and enjoy this beautiful region are endless. One day you could be snowboarding in the Southern Alps or mountain biking on the Port Hills, the next tasting wines in the Waipara Valley or whale watching in Kaikoura.

Canterbury's largest city is Christchurch, which has become a magnet for innovation and investment in recent years. Café life has exploded; street art, pop-up shops and new commercial ventures are thriving, and Ara Institute of Canterbury is at the heart of it all.

We have two campuses in Christchurch. Our Madras Street campus is a vibrant learning environment located on the fringe of the CBD, close to numerous cafes, shops and entertainment options.

Recently upgraded to the tune of $19M, our Woolston campus is just three kilometres away and not far from a range of convenient services at Eastgate Mall and the Victorian arcade-style Tannery shopping complex.

Christchurch's vitality is mirrored throughout Canterbury, in smaller cities and towns which are thriving on the back of tourism and primary industries. We have campuses in Timaru, Ashburton and Oamaru and each is located within easy reach of the sea, mountains and lakes. Our Timaru campus is the largest of our South Canterbury campuses.

It offers a range of study options in areas such as visual art, outdoor education, business, trades, hair and beauty. Located within growing townships, our Ashburton and Oamaru campuses are smaller, giving campus life a distinct community feel.
