Entry Criteria

Minimum entry criteria

NCEA or other evidence of literacy, numeracy and ability to study at the appropriate level. See 'additional criteria' for details.

Academic Requirements

50 credits at Level 2 or above with at least 12 credits in each of three subjects including a minimum of 8 literacy credits at Level 2 or higher in English or Te Reo Maori; 4 credits must be in reading and 4 credits must be in writing. The literacy credits will be selected from a schedule of approved achievement standards and unit standards and a minimum of 14 numeracy credits at Level 1 or higher in mathematics (or Pangarau) on the National Qualifications Framework.

Equivalent relevant business experience.

If English is not your first language you may also be required to provide evidence of your English language skills as listed below. If you have no evidence of your English language skills and are a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, contact us for an assessment. IELTS 6.0 Academic (no lower than 5.5 in any subtest). For acceptable alternatives refer to the English Proficiency Outcomes Chart.

By the end of this programme you will be equipped with the core knowledge and the ability to problem solve, think critically, communicate effectively and work independently in a work situation.

Study pathways

Our New Zealand Diploma in Business leads on to studies at a more advanced level.

You may decide to use it to gain entry (and credit recognition, usually 180 credits) to our Bachelor of Applied Management degree or by completing the correct courses also be awarded the Diploma in Human Resource Management, Diploma in Marketing, Diploma in Accounting and/or the NZIM Diploma in Management.
