This scholarship supports academically able students whose financial or personal circumstances might prevent them from considering entry to tertiary education.

It provides $10,000 over three years to students applying to study at Ara Institute of Canterbury, Lincoln University or the University of Canterbury. The scholarship was established in 2007 by the Rotary Club of Riccarton as the result of a significant grant to the Riccarton Rotary Youth Trust from Brian Moore, a Riccarton resident and Rotarian.

Eligibility

The scholarship is awarded to students beginning full-time enrolment in their first year of a degree programme. Applicants must:

  • be citizens of New Zealand or holders of a New Zealand residence class visa;
  • have been studying at secondary level in New Zealand in the year of application (or, in the case of a gap year, in the year immediately prior);
  • have resided in the Canterbury region for at least the 12 months immediately preceding the closing date for applications (or, in the case of a gap year, for at least the 12 months immediately preceding the start of the gap year)

Preference is given to applicants who have received their secondary education while residing in, or attending a school in, the Riccarton Ward of Christchurch.

How to apply

You can apply online through the University of Canterbury's online application form.
