This is an entry scholarship for students who are studying or wish to study the Bachelor of Broadcasting Communications at the New Zealand Broadcasting School, at Ara Institute of Canterbury. It is funded by Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu.

The recipient will receive funding for their course fees as well as paid work experience with the Ngāi Tahu communications team in radio, video, print, online and photo journalism.

Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu is looking for an engaging, creative and cutting-edge individual capable of becoming a multi-skilled journalist, storyteller or film-maker. This is an opportunity for a proud Ngāi Tahu descendant to become a community focused broadcaster, helping to tell the stories of Ngāi Tahu for Ngāi Tahu and the world.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship you must:

  • Be a registered Ngāi Tahu whānau member
  • Be committed to Te Reo me ōna tikanga
  • Have an understanding of the history of Ngāi Tahu
  • Be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident of New Zealand
