Gain the technical skills needed to produce patterns for fashion garments.
During this course you'll learn how to make pattern blocks for clothing using drafting and measuring equipment. The course also covers basic flat patternmaking techniques, and how to apply these techniques to make patterns for a variety of women's outer wear.
This course can be paid for through your secondary schools' STAR budget.
To complete this Youth course you are required to do the NZQF unit standards outlined in the table below. The credits above are Ara credits which you will receive upon completion of this course. Please note the number of credits may be different.

To enrol you must 16 years or over and be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, or hold a visa which allows you to be enrolled in a New Zealand secondary school. If you are currently enrolled at a high school you will need to provide Approval of Enrolment from your school Principal.
If English is not your first language you are also required to provide evidence of your English language skills as listed below or credits in English rich subjects from New Zealand educational institutions. If you have no evidence of your English language skills and are a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, contact us for an assessment.
IELTS 5.5 Academic (with no band score lower than 5.0). For acceptable alternatives refer to the English Proficiency Outcomes Chart.

As well as leading to further study in fashion disciplines, this course can lead to employment as a pattern cutter.
