With our Computing for Free programme delivered throughout Canterbury you can advance your computing skills while working at your own study pace and at times best suited to your lifestyle.

This programme is an introduction to business computing and will provide you with a qualification for initial employment in computing and enhance readiness for further study in computing, including the Certificate in Information and Communications Technology or the Diploma in Information and Communications Technology. Credits are also able to be transferred to the National Certificate in Business Administration or the Certificate in Business Administration, and can be used for entry level work or to enhance current work skills.

You can use five credits at Level 3 or above from anywhere on the NZQA Framework or complete five credits from the courses below:

  • MYOB
  • Payroll

Please note: a $252 fee applies to these elective courses.

If you have limited knowledge, skills or experience in the computing area you can gain these skills in our non-assessed courses before undertaking a programme of study towards this intermediate qualification.

  • If English is not your first language you may also be required to provide evidence of your English language skills. If you have no evidence of your English language skills and are a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, contact us for an assessment.

    Note: If you have achieved NCEA Level 3 University Entrance requirements you are not required to provide evidence of English Language Skills.
