Learn about consumer behaviour and explore creative communication with our diploma, for an exciting future in marketing.

This programme is designed to give you a sound knowledge and skill base in marketing where you will learn about the many influences and impacts on consumer behaviour and how to apply marketing principles using real world examples. We teach you the value of research and the techniques for producing quality reports and communication documents using proven marketing tools.

Entry requirements

Academic requirements
  • 50 credits at Level 2 or above with at least 12 credits in each of three subjects including a minimum of 8 literacy credits at Level 2 or higher in English or Te Reo Maori; 4 credits must be in reading and 4 credits must be in writing. The literacy credits will be selected from a schedule of approved achievement standards and unit standards.

  • and a minimum of 14 numeracy credits at Level 1 or above in mathematics (or Pangarau) on the National Qualifications Framework.

Alternative requirements
  • Equivalent relevant business experience.

English requirements
  • If English is not your first language you may also be required to provide evidence of your English language skills. If you have no evidence of your English language skills and are a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, contact us for an assessment.

    Note: If you have achieved NCEA Level 3 University Entrance requirements you are not required to provide evidence of English Language Skills.

With this diploma you may be employed as a marketing assistant and other administration roles or customer sales and sales support working in the marketing divisions of many industries or you may wish to consider careers in tourism, publishing, advertising and public relations. As you gain further experience this could lead to management roles in brand, product or marketing management.

Study pathways

Following on from this diploma you might choose to take on further studies. This qualification will give you entry and credit recognition for a business degree or with one year of further study you can complete the NZ Diploma in Business.
