This qualification provides you with enhanced skills and knowledge related to plumbing.

You will learn about design principles and procedures, in accordance with current leglislation and standards for:

  • Water supply systems
  • Water supply backflow protection systems
  • Hot water systems
  • Foul water systems
  • Weather proofing buildings

You must be able to work in a busy trades-related environment.

Entry requirements

Academic requirements
  • Completion of the necessary time requirements set by the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board.

  • Successful completion of Registration examinations for either or both of the subjects.

  • Successful completion of the National Certificate in Plumbing or Gasfitting Level 4.

  • Students must have completed the Craftsman Common short award to gain entry to this programme.

English requirements
  • If English is not your first language you may also be required to provide evidence of your English language skills. If you have no evidence of your English language skills and are a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, contact us for an assessment.

    Note: If you have achieved NCEA Level 3 University Entrance requirements you are not required to provide evidence of English Language Skills.
