Content

Embark on a learning journey while absorbing yourself in the Māori language. You will leave this programme with the ability to speak and understand Te Reo Māori.

Akona Te Reo is a flexible, beginner-level Māori language certificate focused on enabling students to use Te Reo at home or in the workplace. It combines basic speaking and writing with an understanding of the cultural context of Te Reo Māori.

Akona Te Reo is a part time course. It can be studied online, in person or through a mix of both methods, which students can change or adapt to fit with their own commitments as the course progresses. Face-to-face classes are held online and in the classroom on Mondays and Wednesdays. In addition, there are five Wānanga (language workshops) held on campus at the weekend for extra study.

Find out more about our Wānanga (language workshops).
