Content

Add to your IT experience and gain the skills needed to become a specialist.

This programme offers a choice of strands, allowing you to specialise in a particular area of IT. In the server administration strand you'll learn how to develop network and system infrastructure, and the professionals skills required for an IT career. The network administration strand covers creating, maintaining and linking networks, plus industry relevant professional practice skills. For the information technology security strand, you'll gain the necessary skills to operate and maintain secure networks, plus you'll develop your ability to work effectively with clients and colleagues.

Credit recognition is available for this programme; if you have related skills, knowledge and/or experience, it may count towards part or even all of the qualification.

  • New Zealand Diploma in Information Technology Technical Support (Level 5) or equivalent.

Alternative requirements
  • An ability to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and experience in the specialised area of the selected strand through practical work experience in a relevant field of IT or via relevant industry certifications.

    Skills for tertiary study (including literacy and numeracy) may be acquired through study, work and/or life experience. Students who can demonstrate these skills may be approved for alternative entry. Literacy and numeracy assessments are available.

  • If English is not your first language you may also be required to provide evidence of your English language skills. If you have no evidence of your English language skills and are a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, contact us for an assessment.

    Note: Students who have achieved NCEA Level 3 University Entrance requirements are not required to provide evidence of English Language Skills.
