Add to your computing experience and become a specialist in IT security.

This programme builds on your existing IT skills and equips you with new skills and knowledge in the area of information technology security. It will enable you to implement secure solutions for access and use of devices, servers, networks and data storage through the application of emerging security techniques. You'll also gain a range of professional skills required for an IT career.

If you have work experience in this area, or a relevant prior qualification, you may be eligible for credit recognition towards this qualification.

Entry requirements

Academic requirements
  • New Zealand Diploma in Information Technology Technical Support (Level 5) or equivalent.

Alternative requirements
  • An ability to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and experience in the specialised area of the selected strand through practical work experience in a relevant field of IT or via relevant industry certifications.

    Skills for tertiary study (including literacy and numeracy) may be acquired through study, work and/or life experience. Students who can demonstrate these skills may be approved for alternative entry. Literacy and numeracy assessments are available.

  • If English is not your first language you may also be required to provide evidence of your English language skills. If you have no evidence of your English language skills and are a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, contact us for an assessment.

    Note: Students who have achieved NCEA Level 3 University Entrance requirements are not required to provide evidence of English Language Skills.
