Content

Acquire the skills to manage staff and workflows effectively. This programme is ideal if you're new to first line management, and/or you'd like to prepare to take on such a role.

It covers managing workflows, motivating and involving a team to achieve team objectives, communicating with team members and stakeholders, sustaining a productive workplace, leadership styles for effectiveness in different environments, and professional and ethical behaviour. You'll also learn about complying with internal policies, legislation and other external requirements, and how to promote an inclusive environment to value diversity.

Credit recognition

Credit recognition is available for this programme; if you have related skills, knowledge and/or experience, it may count towards part or even all of the qualification.

Entry requirements

Academic requirements
  • 40 credits NCEA Level 1, including 10 literacy credits and 10 numeracy credits
    OR
    New Zealand Certificate in Business (Introduction to Team Leadership) (Level 3)

Alternative requirements
  • Skills for tertiary study (including literacy and numeracy) may be acquired through study, work and/or life experience. Students who can demonstrate these skills may be approved for alternative entry.

Additional requirements
English requirements
  • If English is not your first language you may also be required to provide evidence of your English language skills. If you have no evidence of your English language skills and are a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, contact us for an assessment

    Note: Students who have achieved NCEA Level 3 University Entrance requirements are not required to provide evidence of English Language Skills.
