Content

This programme is designed to equip you with skills and knowledge that will increase your confidence to make sound business decisions, enable you to ensure your team is productive and engaged, and to improve your bottom line.

Through a blended delivery of workshops, online learning and one-on-one time with a dedicated facilitator, everything you learn will apply to the business you work in.

The diploma covers management and planning in four key areas: finance, business, staffing and sustainability. Specifically, you'll learn how to: understand your employment obligations and responsibilities; develop strategies for good workplace relationships; establish a human resources plan, including recruitment and termination procedures; develop a budget and cash flow forecasts to share with your bank manager or accountant; demonstrate knowledge and practice of GST and PAYE; and develop and monitor a financial plan for an agribusiness, including evaluating opportunities for future performance. You'll also learn how to: understand concepts of asset management, transfer and succession; analyse current environmental management practices for an agribusiness and develop a plan to address shortcomings; ensure your business is viable in the long term; demonstrate knowledge of the physical resources of the business and long term sustainability of these; and prepare a nutrient budget for Land Management Units.

Please note: The diploma is delivered by Ara in partnership with Primary ITO, an accredited training organisation which specialises in education for primary industries. To apply for this programme, please visit the Primary ITO site .

Please also note: Assessment of Current Competency is an optional process that acknowledges your existing experience and skills which can be transferred to your qualification. A facilitator will work with you to assess your level of knowledge and skills as well as any gaps, in order to create your individualised learning plan.

This one-year programme can be studied over three years at your own pace.
