To enable Registered Nurses to extend their knowledge and skills in the assessment, management and support of children and young people and their families, with enuresis, constipation and/or encopresis.
Demonstrate awareness of and explain the aetiology, pathophysiology and clinical presentation of a child or young person with enuresis, constipation and/or encopresis.
Demonstrate awareness of clinical pathways to support a child or young person with enuresis, constipation and/or encopresis.
Critically analyse various treatment options available, including modifiable factors, pharmacological options, and/or surgical interventions and outline the evidence base for practice.
Discuss styles of parenting, the importance of attachment and demonstrate the ability to support parents in managing behaviour, including parents of children with additional needs.
Demonstrate understanding of Maori and Pacific Island specific health needs.
Undertake reflection on the assessment and management of a child or young person with enuresis, constipation and/or encopresis including documentation and referral.
