To enable Registered Nurses working in the perianaesthesia environment to gain professional knowledge in the management and utilisation of anaesthetic associated procedures and equipment.
Successful completion of this course indicates that the demonstrated clinical/technical skills associated with this course have been met at a specific time in the clinical setting. However, on completion of this course, the ongoing determination of clinical competency in the perianaesthesia setting is the responsibility of the clinical institution.
Demonstrate the ability to identify appropriate anaesthetic equipment and resources.
Demonstrate an understanding of the requirements of a Level 2 and Level 3 Anaesthetic machine check.
Demonstrate safe practice in airway management.
Respond to complex anaesthetist and patient needs during the anaesthetic process.
Critically reflect upon anaesthetic specific adverse events and associated risk management strategies.
