Learning outcomes

  • undertake a comprehensive health history focused on the child and their family and conduct a systematic physical examination of a well-child demonstrating consideration for the child's development.
  • for specific episodes of ill health selectively review the child's health history and determine the relevant physical examination required, utilising an investigative framework.
  • undertake and analyse a child's history and physical examination findings to determine alterations from normal and physiological responses to altered health status.
  • verbally report and document information accurately from the history and examination.
  • critically evaluate history and examination findings to make judgments for timely referral to other health professionals and make a decision about appropriate nurse intervention and health promotion.
