The Pegasus HealthMaori, Pacific and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse awards last night was a special occasion, according to staff from the Ara Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health department. 14 Ara students received Workforce Development Scholarships, which aim to enhance the cultural and linguistic richness of the health sector by assisting with study programme fees.

Ara students from degree programmes in nursing, medical imaging, social work and applied science received assistance with their study fees thanks to Workforce Development Scholarships from Pegasus Health.

“It was a lovely ceremony with most recipients present with whanau,” Head of Department of Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Cathy Andrew said. “Each student who was present spoke for a couple of minutes about themselves and their aspirations, often bringing tears to the eyes of the audience. Many made special mention of their tutors and the support at Ara.”
