School of English off to a great start
The School of English Language is pleased to see numbers growing again as people overseas gain confidence in Christchurch. Three groups arrived last Monday from Shobi University, Tezukayama University and Oita Prefectural College in Japan, swelling the number of students in the school by 37.
The accompanying teachers from Japan were pleased to re-establish their contacts at CPIT. One commented on the change in atmosphere in the city, saying she felt that people were much more friendly and kind than before the earthquakes.
The students will join over a hundred other international students who have chosen Christchurch to carry out their language studies. This also includes a group of trainee teachers from Gongju National University of Education in Korea who came to both improve their English and to see how New Zealand primary schools function. The students were welcomed with open arms at three Christchurch primary schools. There was certainly plenty of goodwill from both sides and the student teachers quickly established good relationships with the children.
