Amber Bailey chose to study a Bachelor of Design specialising in Visual Communications at CPIT (now Ara Institute of Canterbury) because the programme offers hands on practical experience as well as allowing freedom to develop skills in all areas of design.
Her studies prepared Amber for her career by giving her the knowledge to impress employers gained during her time studying. Her interviewers commended her advanced knowledge compared to some intermediate designers they had interviewed.
The highlights of her study at Ara were the field trips, project work and most importantly their trip to Wellington for Semi-Permanent, an event combining speaker presentations, exhibitions and a festival of creativity.
After Amber graduated she started work at NoBull Design and BMD Creative. Her portfolio ranges from creating print media, websites, Facebook apps, to the logo on the NZ Superbike.
