Health and Travel insurance is mandatory for all international students from the date you leave your home country and we will arrange insurance cover for you through our approved provider. It is possible to arrange insurance through an alternate provider; however this must meet the minimum Insurance requirements of Ara and be approved. We request that this be arranged prior to your departure from your home country. Details of policy must be sent to IntlAdmissions@ara.ac.nz before your enrolment can be completed.
Please see our website (link here) for more information and links to the policy and related forms.
What is a pre-existing condition?
Generally, a pre-existing condition is any health condition or symptoms, of which you were aware, or for which you had sought medical treatment or advice. This includes any health condition/s, which had not necessarily been diagnosed, but of which you had symptoms. Health insurance policies are designed to cover health conditions arising after the commencement of the policy, rather than health conditions existing before the commencement of the policy. Pre-existing conditions are generally excluded from cover.
To complete the enrolment process you will be required to bring your original passport and visa into Admissions and Enrolments for verification when you arrive and before you start study.
