Ara is committed to supporting healthy and active staff. We offer a variety of opportunities for staff to take charge of their health and wellness. We are always looking for new and interesting ways for staff to get involved and get active. Sponsorship is available for official city events and social sports teams.
Our Recreation Centre, located in the newly built Whareora (Science and Wellbeing Facility) at the City campus in Christchurch provides a brand new gym and weights room with memberships available to staff and students at discounted prices.
Staff also have access to free group fitness and yoga classes.
Our Health Centre, located at the City campus in Christchurch, provides an accessible and competitively priced health service. Although primarily established for students, staff can access nurses, a general practitioner (GP), counsellors and a physiotherapist.
Employee Assistance Programme (OCP)
Confidential counselling services are available to staff through the Organisational Counselling Programme (OCP), an independent service offering staff access to voluntary, safe and professional counselling assistance. The service is free (for up to three sessions per issue).
Centre for Māori and Pasifika Achievement (CMPA)
The CMPA exists to offer support to Māori and Pacific Island staff and students at Ara. CMPA staff will be happy to assist with any issue you may have. You're welcome to visit the Whare buildings and introduce yourself.
