David Halstead is a current Director, Life Member, and past Vice President and President (2005-2008) of the Canterbury Employers’ Chamber of Commerce, a Fellow of the Institute of Directors, has been a Fellow of NZIM and has been an elected Community Board member for the Christchurch City Council in the Fendalton/Waimairi Ward. He is also a member of the Christchurch Consular Corp and still serves as the Honorary Consul for Austria in the South Island and is a member of the Austrian Society. He was a Business NZ Council member from 2005-2009 and Chair of the Business NZ Manufacturer’s Forum from 2006-2009.
David brings experience as a past Regional Chief Executive of a large manufacturing company, an export and business development manager of a textile manufacturer and owned and operated his own engineering business from 1998-2008. In 2008 David helped establish and was the founding Chairman of the Clown Doctors NZ Charitable Trust.
He has previously had ten years of ITP sector experience as a Council member, being elected Deputy Chair of the Christchurch College of Education, where he was also Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee and member of the CEO Performance/Remuneration Committee for six years.
David is currently Chair of the CPIT Council Audit Committee, a CPIT Council appointed Trustee on the Ōtautahi Education Development Trust, and the non-executive Director of CPIT Holdings Company Ltd. He was originally the Canterbury Employer’s Chamber of Commerce nominee for the CPIT Council but since the change in the governance structure is now appointed by the Ministerial appointed members of the Council.
